How is CBD different than marijuana?
CBD is a cannabinoid derived from the plant Cannabis sativa. The plant Cannabis sativa is classified as "hemp" when it contains less than 0.03% THC and is classified as "marijuana" when it contains more than 0.03% THC.
We only derive CBD from hemp plants. All of our products contain less than the legal limit of THC.
What is a cannabinoid?
Cannabinoids (e.g., THC and CBD) are the chemical compounds secreted by cannabis flowers that provide relief to an array of symptoms including pain, nausea, anxiety, and inflammation. These work their medicinal magic by imitating compounds our bodies naturally produce, called endocannabinoids, which activate to maintain internal stability and health.
There are over 480 natural components found within the Cannabis sativa plant, of which 66 have been classified as "cannabinoids;" chemicals unique to the plant. The most well known and researched of these is THC, which is responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis.
The other major cannabinoids are:
- Cannabigerols (CBG)
- Cannabichromenes (CBC)
- Cannabidiols (CBD)
- Cannabinol (CBN) and cannabinodiol (CBDL)
- Other cannabinoids (such as cannabicyclol (CBL), cannabielsoin (CBE), cannabitriol (CBT) and other miscellaneous types).
Cannabinoids affect the user by interacting with specific receptors, located within different parts of the central nervous system. Two kinds of cannabinoid receptors have been found to date and are termed CB1 (located in the brain) and CB2 (located in the body).
Is this tested for my safety?
Yes. We third party test our CBD and our hemp extracts, and we insure the integrity and safety of our products.
Will I have issues falling asleep without it?
No. Unlike taking Melatonin, which may result in dependency, taking CBD (and herbal products such as Valerian Root, Passion Flower, and Lavender) has not been demonstrated to result in dependency.
